Dr. Wegener is originally from New York City.  After completing his surgical training in the Midwest, he practiced in the Chicago area for 10 years prior to coming to Granville county in 2005.  He performs a wide range of general surgery procedures including intestinal, breast, thyroid, gall bladder and hernia surgery as well as cancer surgery.  He is fellowship trained in advanced laparoscopy and endoscopy.  He has a personal interest in colon cancer screening.  He is a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserves.  Dr. Wegener, his wife and three children reside in Oxford.  When not in surgery, Dr. Wegener enjoys golfing and snow skiing.
