GHS Medical Rehabilitation and Patient Financial Services Relocate to New Facilities

OXFORD, NC (April 7, 2010) – Granville Health System (GHS) announced that the initial steps towards implementing the GHS Expansion Plan have been taken with the completed renovation of new Medical Rehabilitation and Patient Financial Services facilities. Both departments are relocating to Oxford Commons on Roxboro Road in Oxford. The move will be complete by Monday, April 12.

The relocation opens the way for renovating a new, larger lobby and admissions area that will make visiting Granville Medical Center more comfortable and convenient for patients and visitors.

“We are very pleased to have completed this initial renovation project,” said L. Lee Isley, Chief Executive Officer for Granville Health System. “As we move forward with the GHS Expansion Plan we are increasing the health system’s capacity to meet our community’s growing demand for health care services.”

Granville Health System’s Medical Rehabilitation Department, which includes outpatient Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy, will now be located at 132 Roxboro Road in Oxford. Patients can make an appointment by calling 919.690.3277 from 8:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-5:00pm on week days.

“We are delighted with our new location, which is very convenient for our patients,” says Jason Brand, Director of Rehabilitation Services. “Patients referred by their physician for outpatient therapy will appreciate the easy access to parking at the new facility. In addition, our patients can register as they arrive at our office; they do not have to go to the hospital first.”

The move will not affect existing rehabilitation services at Brantwood Nursing and Rehab Center, or at South Granville Medical Center, which will continue receiving patients at those locations. Inpatients at Granville Medical Center will now receive therapy in a new inpatient gym on the third floor.

All Granville Health System outpatient physical therapists are trained at the doctorate level; several have been trained in McKenzie techniques for treatment of cervical, lumbar, and thoracic disorders. The rehabilitation team also includes therapists trained in women’s health issues for pelvic floor pain and incontinence, a Certified Hand Therapist in the Occupational Therapy program, and a Speech Language Pathology program that includes Pediatric Therapy services.
